An incredible elopement at Cathedral Rock with photographer Katrina Wallace from Sedona Bride . Maycee and Zach were married near the base of the mountain, and after the ceremony, we headed up to the saddle for a stunning photo and video session. Film above, preview below.
Chane and Will got married in Florida and right after, came to Sedona. It was their dream to have a red rock session at the top of Cathedral Rock and exchange their vows. Victoria with White Desert Photography and I them in the parking lot (this was not a weekend), and immediately noticed how relaxed Chane and Will were. The big wedding was behind them, and they could just enjoy each other and their vacation. They were all smiles and laughter, and the evening was lovely. There was a dusting of snow on the red rocks, and the sun shone through crevasses it rarely does (thumbnail pic above!!). There was no long line to take photos, and so we had plenty of privacy. Their vows, saved for this moment, were heartfelt, although honestly, it was so windy, Victoria and I couldn’t even hear them. I’m so grateful I caught such quality audio for them to have forever.
Although it was stunning, it was freezing up there. The wind can really whip over that saddle. We were all shivering, and I was even in a beanie and puffy. Truthfully, Chane and Will, even with their Florida acclimation, didn't complain once. It was an adventure and completely worth it. Full film above, preview below.
Becca and Mark had the perfect micro wedding. About 15 people joined them for an incredible ceremony with breathtaking views of Cathedral Rock. Cydney from Canvas Weddings and Events set up the most elegant scene on the slick rock. There were florals, rugs, plushes, and a gorgeous wooden frame to compliment Cathedral. There were no tourists, but there was a live guitarist. It was beautiful. After, we headed back to the VRBO for a small reception with incredible Italian, dancing, and cake. Sara and Marcus were married at one of the most beautiful spots in Sedona. To keep Sedona beautiful, I will not say exactly where it was, but know that it’s a dream. Sedona is full of stunning, intimate locations, making it perfect for elopements. They were joined by Sara’s adorable daughter and their parents. Their vows were so tender and genuine, and as I edited their footage and audio, I felt so much happiness for them! It is incredible how life can bring people together, separate them for a time, and then reunite them when they both need it most. Congratulations Sara and Marcus! Preview above, film below.
Margot and Chris flew from the east coast on a private plane to elope in Sedona. They thankfully dodged a few storms that threatened to delay their wedding. Sadly, Chris’s father passed away about a week before the wedding. To remember him, they brought his favorite hat, which is pictured above. I thought this was a sweet, sincere way for the couple to feel like he was there with them.
Margot told us that she had been divorced for 25 years and was so happy to find love again. The two were giddy with love and they were one of the smoochiest couples I’ve ever filmed. It is a great reminder that we have no idea where life will take us, and love can come when we least expect it.
The couple also wanted an authentic Native American ceremony. They asked to keep their full wedding film private, and I happily respect that, but know that it was full of singing, live flute, and incredibly powerful and moving words about the earth, letting go of negativity from the past, and moving forward with devotion.
This elopement was planned by Weddings in Sedona and they commit to helping couples find genuine, authentic Native American officiants. This ceremony was beautifully officiated by Mario Black Wolf, a Medicine Man from the Mechica-Apache Tribe. Anthony Flesch played the Native American flute, which brought a lovely ambiance. C and D traveled from Tennessee to elope at Cathedral Rock. Cathedral Rock has so much scenery to offer. About ten minutes from the parking lot, there is a slab of red rock absolutely perfect for an intimate ceremony. After the ceremony, they kissed their son goodbye. C took off her veil and stuffed it, along with her bouquet, in a backpack, and we started the hike to the top of Cathedral Rock for sunset. D and C were in great shape and all the hikers we passed on the trail were absolutely stoked to see a newlywed couple on the trail. They all kept giving C huge props for hiking in her dress and complimented her hiking boots.
The hike to the top of Cathedral Rock is short but hard, and I absolutely love it. The payoff at the top is always breathtaking and fills me with joy and awe. The sunset did not disappoint, and we got fantastic footage and photos. What an incredible way to spend a first evening as husband and wife. If anyone every needs me to haul my gear to the top of Cathedral Rock, I will always say yes.

My first wedding in Sedona, AZ! It was incredible. Joseph and Jessie were married at the base of Cathedral Rock with a few of their favorite people, and their beloved dog Lucy. There were multiple standout moments. After the first look, Lucy, Jessie's dog ran up to them, and JP bent down to pet Lucy and said "My two girls in white." Heart melter. During the ceremony, Jessica tried to kiss JP at the end of his vows, and the officiant stopped her. It was so charming and hilarious (see film :)). And then they fumbled JP's ring during the exchange (also see film), and their reaction was priceless. And then when it was all said and done, Jessica blurted out "We did it" and gave JP a big high five. I love couples that can totally relax on their wedding day and be 100% themselves. And they really were.
After the ceremony, they said goodbye to family, strapped on hiking shoes, and we headed to the top of the Cathedral Rock trail just in time for an unbelievable sunset. This location was one of the most beautiful I have ever shot, and I already can't wait to go back. I loved working with Sedona talent. Caitlyn Jennings is an amazing photographer and so lovely to be around. Christopher Bullock is a very talented MUA and hairstylist, and happens to be my next door neighbor, BFF from childhood. We hadn't seen each other in a good 8 years, and we could not contain our excitement when we were reunited. Moving to AZ has been good to me!

I am so grateful for this wedding. Moving is always hard, but I'm so lucky to have moved to another incredible place. I am grateful for JP and Jessie, because they were such a fun couple to have as my first AZ couple. I can't wait for more AZ weddings and AZ sunsets.
